Catching up

Sorry for the long absence. Had an early mis, and my focus has been anywhere but here in blogland. Understandably so, I guess. Hopefully, when we try again in a few months, we'll have a better result. For now, though, the Cap and I are just going to take things day by day and try not to dwell on "what might have been".

Moving on...

I think I am becoming too obsessive about the quality of my knitting, particularly for someone who is still sort of novice-ish. I think I've ripped out about 6 or 7 times the amount of work that I have to show for the little scarf cap I'm working up for whichever of my friends and relatives happens to have the next baby. (I like to have a stash of baby gifts on hand.)

Anyway, the pattern is a very simple one that I found in Leisure Arts "Our Best Knit Collection". I eliminated the stripes and decided to use a variegated wool. I picked a blue/brown worsted wool with a long repeat from Jojoland's Rhythm collection. That color combo is pretty unisex, I think, so it's perfect to add to my layette stash. If I ever finish it, that is.

I need to find an interesting crochet project to occupy me when I get fed up with playing the Frog Queen with my knitting. I'm a much, much better crocheter than I am a knitter, so the juxtaposition of the two is good for keeping my ego healthy -- I'm too lousy at knitting to get too puffed up about my crochet skills and too good at crochet to fall into despair over the struggle I sometimes still have with knitting.

Turns out that the laptop hubby talked me into getting a few months ago was a huge help in passing the time while I was stuck on bed rest recently. Unfortunately, it also helped me get myself into a bit of trouble because I went a bit yarn happy for a few days there and bought lots of wool on the internet, primarily on eBay. Hubby had me pick him up a couple of superhero figures he didn't already have, too, which may be why he is letting me slide about the yarn.

He goes away in a few days, for his annual two weeks for the National Guard. Of course, he's the one who always gets roped into being part of the advance party, so he'll really be gone for almost three weeks, instead of two. I always miss him a lot when he is away. Guess that's the price you pay for being in love with your husband, eh? That's okay, I can take it... :)
